One of the three Renaissance gates in the city walls, with an Istrian stone façade, three arches and the Lion of Saint Mark. It was once called Porta Cavour, during the Risorgimento.

A bastion of Fra Giocondo's Renaissance walls, one of the structures that protected the city during the siege of 1511.

A seven-arch bridge where the Botteniga river enters the city and splits into three canals. Fra Giocondo's sluice gates, still in use, have defended Treviso since 1521.

A 13th-century Franciscan church, Treviso's 'Pantheon'. It holds the tombs of Pietro Alighieri, Dante's son, and of Francesca Petrarca, the poet's daughter. Napoleon turned it into a stable.

Two palaces in the city centre, restored by Tobia Scarpa and home to the Fondazione Benetton since 2003, with a library and a garden that crosses the Roggia.

An 1875 monument by Luigi Borro, in Carrara marble. It represents the province of Treviso trampling the chains of Austrian rule.

Italy's largest collection of advertising posters, assembled by Nando Salce and donated to the State in 1962. It has two venues: San Gaetano and Santa Margherita.

A bridge over the canals of central Treviso, part of the network of bridges that has always made the city look like a little Venice.

Built in the 12th century to house pilgrims from the Holy Land, the church of San Gaetano has Templar and Hospitaller origins. Today it is one of the sites of the Museo Salce.

Monument to the tenor Mario Del Monaco, who lived near Treviso after retiring from the stage. The Teatro Comunale has borne his name since 2011.

Church of the former Benedictine monastery, with paintings by Veronese, Palma il Giovane and others. Restored by Tobia Scarpa, it is a cultural venue of the Fondazione Benetton.

A spring-fed river that rises a few kilometres from Treviso. Fra Giocondo diverted its course to create the moat around the walls and the network of canals in the centre.

Opened in 1933, the stadium was named in 1963 after Omobono Tenni, the rider born in Tirano who made Treviso his home.

Beside the church of San Martino, the Sile enters Treviso, and here stood the port where barges arriving from Venice would dock.

Opened in 1914, the Sant'Artemio racecourse was the first in the country to bring together trotting and galloping races.

A square on the hill where, according to Wikivoyage, Treviso's first settlement arose. It is one of the three elevations linked to the origin of the city's name.

The Roggia is the western branch of the Botteniga in the centre. After Ponte dell'Oliva it takes the name Siletto and runs alongside the Bomben and Caotorta palaces.

Park of the Sant'Artemio complex, headquarters of the Province, on the grounds of the former provincial psychiatric hospital.

The Cagnan Grande, or 'da Pescheria', is one of the branches of the Botteniga and the canal where the city's mills were concentrated. Some wheels still turn.

Beside the church of San Francesco, two wheels of the old mill still turn over the canal, in one of Treviso's most photogenic corners.

In 1509, the demolition of the church to make way for the walls reached the fresco of the Madona Granda, and the people rose up and stopped the work. A Marian shrine and the place of Saint Girolamo Emiliani's conversion.

A church in the centre, mentioned as early as 1184. It houses a triptych from 1510 attributed to the school of Cima da Conegliano and a Callido organ from 1787.

A 14th-century Gothic palace on Via Barberia, with floral decoration and a portico with imitation brickwork. Today it is a municipal exhibition space.

A small square in front of the Museo di Santa Caterina, named after the restorer Mario Botter.

The city's monumental cemetery, opened in 1848, is the resting place of Abbot Luigi Bailo, painter Luigi Serena and writer Giovanni Comisso. Please note: the historic wing was closed for safety reasons in 2025.

Museum of sacred art in the Canoniche Vecchie, a 12th-century palace behind the Duomo, with works by Tomaso da Modena and the cathedral's treasure.

The walls that still embrace the centre were born in 1509, when Venice feared losing Treviso in the War of the League of Cambrai. They were designed by the friar Fra Giocondo and withstood the siege of 1511.

At Ponte Dante, the Cagnan meets the Sile. The line 'Là dove Sile e Cagnan s'accompagna', from Paradiso, is the most famous quotation about Treviso.

A Romanesque brick loggia where the nobles gathered to talk and play chess. On the walls, galloping knights and scenes of the Trojan War, laid out like a comic strip.

Built in 1514, it is the simplest of the three Renaissance gates, in exposed brick and with few stone details. Its name comes from Altino, the ancient Roman city to which the road led.

A square at the end of Corso del Popolo, with the Chamber of Commerce building, dating from 1956, and the historic Bar Borsa.

Built in 1218, the Torre Civica initially stood apart and, about fifty years later, was joined to the Palazzo del Podestà. Its bell, the 'marangona', has been ringing since 1328.

Treviso's opera theatre since 1692. Destroyed by fire in 1868, it was rebuilt in one year and reopened in 1869 with Gounod's Fausto.

Two small churches joined together in Piazza San Vito. In Santa Lucia, the 'Madonna della farfalla' shows the Child trying to reach a butterfly, a symbol of the soul.

The Restera is the towpath along the river Sile, where oxen and horses pulled barges against the current. Today it is a walking and cycling route, with mills and the 'barge cemetery' further along.

An 18th-century Veneto villa, designed by Giannantonio Selva, the architect of Teatro La Fenice in Venice, for Girolamo Manfrin. The name 'Margherita' comes from a former English owner.

A Renaissance gate in the city walls, also resembling a triumphal arch. It became known as 'Vendramina', after the Venetian podestà Nicolò Vendramin.

The seat of the Council of Three Hundred, it was built in the early 13th century and partly destroyed by the bombing of 1944. Ferdinando Forlati's reconstruction restored it to Piazza dei Signori.

A marble statue of a woman who offered white and red wine to the people every time a new podestà took office, until 1797. The original stands in a display case, and the 1989 copy now gives only water.

A Renaissance palace on Via Canova, part of the Casa da Noal complex. It houses art from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

A former Austrian prison opposite the Duomo, restored by Tobia Scarpa and opened in 2018 as the home of the Fondazione Imago Mundi, dedicated to contemporary art.

The largest church in Treviso, built by the Dominicans. In the seminary next door, Tomaso da Modena painted the bespectacled cardinal in 1352, the first depiction of eyeglasses in the history of art.

Riviera Santa Margherita is the most photographed stretch of the Sile in the city centre: gardens, palaces and willows over the water.

A protected area of 67 hectares with the springs of the Storga river, a tributary of the Sile that flows entirely within the municipality of Treviso.

The Canale dei Buranelli, or Cagnan Medio, is one of the most picturesque corners of Treviso. Its name recalls the fishermen from the island of Burano who settled along its banks.

An educational park within the grounds of Villa Manfrin, for children aged 3 to 11, with trails about cinema, animation, dinosaurs and Leonardo da Vinci.

A museum of 19th- and 20th-century art, with works by Arturo Martini. It is named after Abbot Luigi Bailo (1835–1932), founder of the Musei Civici.

Cathedral of St Peter, built where a temple, a theatre and perhaps Roman baths once stood. The Malchiostro Chapel holds Titian's Annunciation.

The main site of the Musei Civici, in a former convent of the Servants of Mary. It houses the Sant'Orsola cycle by Tomaso da Modena, rescued by Abbot Bailo in 1882.

The political heart of Treviso since the Middle Ages, with the Palazzo dei Trecento, the Torre Civica and the Palazzo del Podestà. It was once called the Square of Chains, because the condemned were put on display there.

Isola della Pescheria is a small island in the Cagnan Grande where the fish market has stood since 1856. It was created to move the smell of fish away from the heart of Treviso.
